The types of sunglasses lenses are roughly divided into five types: anti-reflective protective lenses, colored lenses, colored lenses, polarized lenses and color-changing lenses.
1. Anti-reflective protective lens: This lens is coated with a thin layer of magnesium fluoride on the surface to prevent strong light reflection, allowing you to see things more clearly and not disturbed by strong light. To test whether your glasses are really anti-reflective protective lenses, point the glasses at the light source. If you see purple or green reflections, it means that the lenses are indeed coated with anti-reflective protective film.
2. Colored lenses: also known as "tinted lenses", that is, in the process of lens production, some chemicals are added to make the lenses appear colored to absorb light of specific wavelengths. This is the type of lens most commonly used in sunglasses.
3. Colored lens: The effect of this lens is the same as that of the colored lens, only the way of making it is different. It is to paint the color on the surface of the lens. The most well-known is the "gradual colored lens". The color is Darkest at the top, then lighter at the bottom. Generally, sunglasses with degrees are mostly treated with colored lenses.
4. Polarized lens: In order to filter the dazzling light of the sun on the water, land or snow in the same direction, a special vertical coating is added to the lens, which is called polarized lens. Best for outdoor sports such as sea activities, skiing or fishing.
5. Color-changing lenses: also known as "photosensitive lenses". Because the chemical substance of silver halide is added to the lens, the original transparent and colorless lens will become a colored lens when exposed to strong light for protection, so it is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
