Dyeing principle of resin lens

Resin lenses can withstand high temperatures up to 150°C. When the temperature is 80-90 ℃, the resin lens is heated, the molecular gap expands, and the dye particles dissolved in water can enter the gap between the molecules to make it colored. When the lens cools, the molecular gap shrinks, the color is fixed, and the dyeing is completed.

Dyeing can be done in a single color or in a gradient color. The general coloring depth is about 0.03-0.1 mm. The dyed lenses should be resin lenses whose surface has not been hardened or coated.

Dyeing solution and dyeing utensils

(1) Staining solution and other reagents

1. Dyeing solution: an aqueous solution of dyes and accelerators.

2. Commonly used dye combinations: yellow, brown, pink, green, blue, gray.

3. Accelerator: It is a dyeing auxiliaries, also known as surfactants, its function is to reduce the surface tension of the dyeing agent, speed up the infiltration speed of the lens, and make the dye particles dissolved in water accelerate into the molecules of the resin lens. In the gap, it is easy to color and fix.

4. Fading agent: a chemical solvent that can fade the color of tinted lenses.

(2) Preparation of dyeing solution

According to the requirements of the manufacturer's instructions, add dyes and accelerators in a certain proportion to the heated water. Generally, the ratio of dye and accelerator is 20:1. Different manufacturers have different requirements, and the specific operation should be done according to the requirements of the manufacturer's manual.

(3) Dyeing utensils

Dyeing utensils can be simple or complex, as simple as a small aluminum pot and heater. The general standard optical shop dyeing equipment is an electric hot water bath dyeing box, which has a control panel (consisting of a power switch, a thermometer, a thermostat, a timer, etc.); the water bath box generally has six buckets, all of which are made of stainless steel; bucket lids There is a symmetrically designed lens positioner under it; there is a movable lift controller.
